Silk

One of the Maison’s
most iconic fabrics.

The raw silk is still handmade today and is subjected to an extra washing treatment that gives it a unique shine.

Maurizio Marinella, together with Alessandro, are personally involved in the choice of patterns, giving clear direction and enriching the designs with their creativity.

The agreed pattern is then etched onto the silk screens, using a wax jet engraver, following a very demanding process that involves meticulous checks for each design.

The “printer” is in charge and works with the “leveler”, using a type of spatula with a sponge, which is passed between them from one side to the other, and presses the dye into the silk. Each “sponging” must be identical to the previous one: even a small change could make all the work in vain.

After printing, the fabric is treated with steam to fix the colours.

The process remains totally artisanal and makes the silks used and processed by our workshop unique.
